Sangh inspired organisations

Today, there are more than 40 organisations at National level and many more at regional level, working in various specific areas, started with inspiration and guidance from RSS. Some of those national level organisations are listed below:

Vanasasi Kalyan Ashram (VKA) :Works for the upliftment of tribals by having ekal-vidyalayas, hostels, self help groups etc.

Samskrita Bharati: Works for the promotion and popularization of Samskrita language and literature.

Rashtra Sevika Samiti (RSS). Similarto RSS, works among girls and women.

Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) : Works for Hindu cause around the world.

Akhila Bharateeya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP): Works to inculcate the Nationalistic feeling among students.

Bharateeya Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) : Labour union inspired by RSS, taking the cue as Nation first then self.

Some of the state level organisations in Karanataka, run multiple seva projects primarily in the field of education, health and selfreliance, are:

Rashtrotthana Parishat :Rashtrotthana blood bank, Non-formal education for slum children are some of their activities.

Hindu Seva Pratishthan : It is motivating youths to give up their valuable time for the cause of society and providing training to them. So far more than 3500 people have been trained since its inception in 1980.

Brief History of RSS:

When Dr. Keshav Baliram Hedgewar was very young itself, he had an urge to throw English empire. Later he pursued his Medical degree from Calcutta, to involve in revolutionary activities. Subsequently he joined the congress and went to jail many times.

Perhaps he was the only leader of that time who tried to analyze the basic problem:

* How could foreign invaders easily rule our country for more than thousand years?

* How could handful of English men become our Masters?

After studying history, he came to the conclusion - our society is not organized; each individual feels and thinks he is alone; there were always some selfish individuals from our own society who helped foreign invaders for a small personal gain and put our nation in deep trouble.

And thus in 1925, on Vijayadashami day he founded Rashtreeya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) at Nagpur. Doctorji invented a unique technique, called 'Shakha'. It is essentially a daily gathering for an hour, full of physical, intellectual, emotional activities to inculcate samskar of patriotism & selflessness in the Swayamsevaks. This will lead Swayamsevaks in organizing the society and to work towards achieving the ultimate goal of this organisation, to take our nation on the pinnacle of glory.

IT Milans, Bangalore

IT Milans is similar to 'Shakha' but happens once a week. The work-culture of many professionals does not permit them to attend 'Shakha'. Currently more than 60 Milans happen at almost all the areas of Bangalore on every Sunday morning.
